It has been almost 25 years since we entered the new millenium (the year 2000). We are fast approaching the year 2025, and as a modern society, we should have more open conversations surrounding death, including funeral arrangements. On this podcast, Simon Lim puts the spotlight on Angjolie Mei, Founder of The Life Celebrant. Why is it important for individuals or families to pre-plan their own or a family member's funeral? When should someone draft a will and see to insurance coverage, so as to avoid or minimise one's family having disputes or having to pay for any liabilities? In other words, getting one's affairs settled as a pre-emptive measure. One of the sensitive things regarding funeral arrangements is who makes the decision?. How can family members avoid disagreements or misunderstandings? Some people have told their family and friends that they do not wish to spend on what they deem to be a lavish funeral - lasting 3 to 5 days. Thus, "The Life Celebrant" has an alternative to a wake and instead it provides a few hours of visitation or memorial service. Find out more from Angjolie Mei.  To what extent has Singapore society changed from our grandparents' or great grandparents' time (when a child’s death was often handled swiftly and silently)? An interesting service of "The Life Celebrant" is arranging a Living Funeral. This may be considered if one is suffering from a terminal illness and doesn't have much time left with their loved ones and friends. At what point should one arrange for a Living Funeral?  For people who've never attended a Living Funeral, will it be as cathartic as a traditional wake or funeral?  Why did Angjolie Mei decide to make a career in the funeral business? Angjolie will also be sharing a good life lesson with you. Download this podcast and enjoy listening to this interview, where Simon Lim features Angjolie Mei, Founder of The Life Celebrant. On this podcast, Simon Lim puts the spotlight on Kenneth Tan, Founder of Wasuka Art located at No. 81 Joo Jiat Road.  Kenneth Tan founded the art gallery Utterly Art in 2001. After 23 years, Kenneth has rebranded Utterly Art with the introduction of Wasuka Art. Why the name Wasuka? What does it mean? Kenneth has spent over 20 years steeped in the business of contemporary art. His experience and knowledge gives him a unique insight into the trends, opportunities and vulnerabilities of the art market. Just by looking at an artist's work or body of works, how would one know that the work has market potential? In other words, what makes an artwork sellable? Some people buy art as an investment. How can someone ascertain if an artwork has the potential to be a much sought-after piece in the future?  Hear from Kenneth about Spanish artist Murfin (born Manuel Delgado Diaz) and pop artist Andre Tan. Having worked with so many artists, how would Kenneth Tan describe the psyche of today's artists?  If there is dream or vision for the arts landscape in Singapore to make a quantum leap, what would be this dream? Listen to Kenneth's perspective as a gallerist. What has been one good lesson that Kenneth has learned in the art business? What does Kenneth think is the biggest misconception about the art business? Find out the answers from Kenneth Tan, Founder of Wasuka Art.
